The 391st Fighter Squadron Bold Tigers were one of the first fighter squadrons to deploy to the Middle East after the 9/11 attacks. The Bold Tigers flew strike sorties from Al Udied Air Base in Qatar. These were long missions requiring several air refuelings during the flight. This aircraft is configured in the new “bomb truck” configuration carrying twelve 500-pound GBU-54/B Laser Joint Direct Attack Munitions (LJDAM) and four 250-pound GBU-53/B StormBreaker Small Diameter Bomb Block IIs. The aircraft is also armed with AIM-120C and AIM-9X air-to-air missiles.
