Boeing KC-46 Pegasus “PEGGY”

The New Hampshire Air National Guard has the ONLY KC-46 with a colorful tail flash. This paint scheme was created and drawn by the famous aviation artist Shayne Meder from Southern California. Shayne painted the tail of KC-46A tail number AF17-7063 while it was participating in Red Flag Alaska at Eielson Air Force Base near Fairbanks. The aircraft was towed into a large hanger and Shayne went too work. The aircraft was nicknamed “PEGGY” by Shayne as she worked on the aircraft, a takeoff of the name Pegasus.

The US Air Force will purchase 179 KC-46A airframes to replace the aging KC-135R Stratotanker (+60 years old!) and KC-10A Extender fleets of air refueling tankers. The mission of the KC-46A is mainly refueling, but it can also carry cargo and passengers. The Pegasus can also be configured for aeromedical evacuation.
