Capt Aman / 1Lt Houghton F-4C Pardo’s Push

Capt Earl Aman and 1Lt Bob Houghton flew this McDonnell Douglas F-4C Phantom II on their 10 March 1967 mission to the Thai Nguyen Steel Mill 35 miles northeast of Hanoi North Vietnam. This was the first US Air Force air strike and the North Vietnamese were waiting for the strike force. Damaged and leaking fuel, Earl Aman lowered his arresting hook and Capt Bob Pardo pushed them for 88 miles were both crews ejected from their stricken airplanes. This event became known as “Pardo’s Push”.
