Description
This F-16CG Block 40 Viper was flown by Lt Col Burt “DIVOT” Barkley on 4 March 2002 during the Battle of Roberts Ridge. He and his wingman Andrew “Lip” Lipina flying as CLASH 71 and CLASH 72 provided close air support to the SEAL Team Six group MAKO 30 and the Quick Reaction Force of 18 75th Ranger Battalion soldiers fighting for their lives atop Takhur Ghar mountain or the Battle of Roberts Ridge. SEAL Team Six Petty Officer Neal Roberts fell out of the 160th SOAR MH-47 while being inserted on top of Takhur Ghar mountain in the middle of the night of $ March 2002. Lt Col Barkley was awarded the Silver Star for his heroic actions that day.
